"

There are no “but’s”, “though’s”, or “if’s” to my love.
I do not love confusedly.
There are no conditions to my love.
It exists solely to encapsulate everything you are.
To embrace your presence and let the emptiness of your absence cling like tar to its lungs.

I love like a storm.
Like raindrops falling like bullets from a sky that gave them up to the earth.

I love like a planet.
Like a floating mass held up by something that cannot be proven, only felt.

I love like goosebumps, and hairs standing on end.
Like a body committing mutiny to the one to which it belongs, because these feelings cannot be contained within the blast cage of a chest.

I love like glaciers.
Filled with cracks but still standing resolute.

I love like a jig saw puzzle.
Never quite knowing where the pieces fit but being sure that they do.

I love like your hands in mine.
Like comfort found in palms that once belonged to a stranger.

I love like you love me.
Every fibre of my being calling out your name in the darkness. My cells reaching into the cold. Asking for you to please, come home.

"We are made of joy and tragedy,
So give me both,
And let me share them with you.
Let me whisper sweet everything’s into your ear,
And promises into your neck.
And know, that even if they are not kept, that they were never empty.
They were never meant to be hollow.
Unlike the bones of birds they were not designed that way.
They were never meant to fly away from you on wings made of words untrue.
But to lay atop your heart, to fall asleep to the lullaby of its gentle beating.
They were always meant to fall from my lips, roll over your edges, to find a home in your chest.
I’m sorry that sometimes they got lost on the way.
I hope you can forgive me for the times they tumbled away, falling between the creases of sheets like coffins, collecting dust, using the headboard as their tombstone.
But I hope you cherish the words that wrapped themselves around you, seeped into your skin.
Planted roots deep inside of you and sprouted flowers from your tongue.
We never intended to hurt each other.
So even if not every heartfelt promise was carried out.
In the end,
At least we know we tried."

"When I was young I fell in love with the sky.
Fell deep into her eyes, and found myself swimming in blue with my mouth full of clouds.
I fell in love with her moods swings,
With her bad days,
With her tears.
Learned to lay beneath her while her pain poured down upon me.
I loved every second of it.
I loved every inch of her.
I loved every centimetre of her stretching greatness.
Every line,
Every scar,
Every dimple, every stretch mark.
I loved her,
The way she loved the sun.
Because the sky is a dirty fucking liar and she will never love you the way that she claims to.
She will never love you the way she loves the sun, and the moon.
Juggling them like knives.
Two secret love affairs that she would hope to shield from your eyes.
But they both shine too bright to ever shield from your eyes.
She does not love you the way she loves his craters, or her flames.
She does not love you.
She does not love me.
She never did.
But sometimes I still find myself tripping over my own tongue, falling backwards into her smile.
Bouncing off of her thunderous kaleidoscope of everything I held so dear.
Sometimes, I look in the mirror and still see the indent her lips left on mine.
Sometimes, I still find myself in love with her."

"Love is complicated.
But love is so simple.
Love is not a feeling.
Love is a decision.
Love is me telling you I’ll be here through anything.
Love is you telling me you’ll be here through anything.
Love can be burning,
But also so cold.
Love is like oxygen on mountain tops,
Hard to come by.
Love is a paradox.
It does not make sense.
Love is putting you before myself.
Love is selfless.
But love can be so selfish.
Love is knowing that when you fall it’s going to break my legs too, but still being there to catch you.
Love is not a struggle.
But love is never easy.
It is not easy to accept that perfection doesn’t exist.
It is not easy, to love someone more than you love yourself.
But love is worth it.
Love is worth the confusion.
Worth all the nights when you don’t know if it’s true.
Love is tangible.
Love is skin on skin,
Eyes locked on eyes.
Love is, fingers through hair.
Love is pulse under fingertips.
Love is lips on lips.
Love is smiles stretching across skylines.
Love is hands on chests,
Heartbeats under palms.
Love is fingers intertwined.
Love is bodies pressed together.
Love is the silence between every word.
Love is “are you okay?”
Love is “call me if you need anything”
Love is breathing when you’re around.
Love is your heartbeat against my ear.
Love is deep inside of you,
And me.
Love is you and I together.
Love is you and I together.
Love is,
Here."

"

I know that it has not always been easy for you.
I know that you have dealt with tragedy.
That treachery has clawed its way into your bones.
I know that there are days when you can think to do nothing but swallow your words.
And I know that my own fall short of healing your wounds.

But I also know that the sun still shines for you.
That its light has found a home in your skin.
I know that you have pieces of the universe in your fingernails.
That your bones could just as easily have been galaxies, and you hold so much greatness inside of you.
I know that you’re ribcage is a mountain range more beautiful than any other.
That you have rushing rivers in your veins.
I know that we both came from an explosion, and you have been carrying shock waves in your body ever since.
I know that earthquakes ripple through you like your spine is a fault line but you have always been too strong to let your insides fall.

You are everlasting.
Every molecule, all the energy expended, will cling to different parts of this earth.
I know that you have not always been who you are.
That you are constantly being rearranged.
But I know that that doesn’t change the fact that every time I look at you, I can feel the explosion that made us going off in my chest.
I know that you are my favourite thing that has ever come from nothing.
I know that everything that has ever been at one point came from nothing.
I know that I can see every star in your eyes, ten times as beautiful as they could ever be in the sky.
I know that you are my sky.
My endless possibilities.
You are the unknown and the unknowable.
You are constantly expanding everything you are.
But one day, I hope to know it all.
And if a time comes when you do not seek solace in my arms, I will scour the earth for every fragment that you left behind.
All the heat left hanging in the air.
Every breath left drifting on wild winds.
I will collect every piece of you that you did not realize had fallen away.
Because with or without me, you deserve to feel as if you are whole.
